Semen from the 70,000gns Charolais bull Barnsford Ferny has gone on sale in the Republic of Ireland exclusively through the e-commerce web site Semenstore.ie.

Purchased by Messrs Boden & Davies at Stirling’s United Auctions Mart in October 2011 for their noted Sportsmans herd near Stockport, Cheshire, Barnsford Ferny made his presence felt when shown for the first time at the Royal Welsh Show in July this year. There he won the Overall Supreme Charolais Championship before going on to win the show’s Individual Interbeed Championship title and gaining much admiration in the process from the collected ringside.

Barnsford Ferny is by the 30,000gns Balmyle Bollinger and is out of the Elrick Uranium-sired Alwent Broom  The first calves from this impressive bull  are already on the ground, are arriving with ease and ‘looking great’.

Semen from "Ferny" is now available priced at 98 euros per straw, with no royalty, from www.semenstore.ie  and is ready for immediate delivery through the site’s partnership with Tipperary-based Dovea Genetics Ltd, Thurles.

Since the launch of Semenstore.ie in early October 2013, the website has been busy fulfilling orders from a range of top Limousin, British Blue, Simmental, Shorthorn and Parthenais sires with more bulls being added all the time.

Semenstore’s Livestock and Genetics Specialist, Steve Jones, says: “Barnsford Ferny is a great addition to the site.  It’s a very exciting time in the industry at present with concentration required on production efficiency, consistency of product, and all-round traits of economic importance.  All of this can be influenced by sire selection. Our job is to locate and contract the very best privately-owned bulls of all breeds, selected for their exceptional type, pedigree and a positive set of performance figures. We are delighted to have added Barnsford Ferny to what has grown into an exciting portfolio suitable for all markets.”
